How to apply for a Danish passport

You will find all relevant information on the main website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. See below if you are a first-time passport applicant born in the Philippines to Danish and Filipino parents.

All applicants must appear in person at the embassy or consulate when applying for a Danish passport.

Passport applicants 12 years old and below can apply at the consulates, while passport applicants aged 12 years old and above can only apply at the embassy due to the fingerprints and a digital signature requirements.

For passport applicants born in the Philippines to Danish and Filipino parents: First time applicants / If the latest passport expired for 2 years or more / Passport renewal applicants 18 years old and below:

Children born in the Philippines must provide the original birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) with QR code and with authentication/apostille from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)Please visit the following websites for guidance:

If the parents were married in the Philippines, the PSA copy of the marriage certificate must have an authentication from the DFA.   
                 
If the parents married in Denmark, the marriage certificate must have an apostille/legalisation from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UM). Please visit the website of UM for the legalisation process.

The PSA issued birth and marriage certificates (also death certificate of the deceased parent, if applicable) must have the QR code, according to the latest security features of the PSA.


The original documents must be presented to the embassy upon appointment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • If the child was born in the Philippines and the biological father was declared thru an Affidavit of Acknowledgment / Admission of Paternity, please contact first the Danish Ministry of Immigration and Integration (UIM) to inquire if the child acquires Danish citizenship at birth and for guidance on how to apply for the Certificate of Danish Citizenship.
  • If the child was born in the Philippines, any changes or remarks related to the child’s birth registration, example: Admission of paternity by the Danish father, change or correction to the child’s name or subsequent marriage of the parents, the changes must be reported and registered to the PSA and later to the UIM for assessment whether the child acquires Danish citizenship based on the new information to his birth registration.
