Short Stay Visa

NEW MANDATORY PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE VISA APPLICATIONS:

From the 1st of July 2019, you must fill in your visa application and pay the application fee online using https://applyvisa.um.dk/. After you have applied and paid the visa fee online, you must print the cover letter from ApplyVisa and hand in supporting documents at the Visa Application Center (VFS).

Denmark is part of the Schengen Region in Europe therefore, if you will be granted a visa, this can also be used to visit other Schengen states.


The Schengen visa may only be granted for a maximum of 90 days stay within the period of 180 days. This is strictly a visitor/tourist visa and it does NOT give the holder right to reside or work in Denmark.


Individuals applying for a Schengen Visa must submit applications personally at the Visa Application Center (VFS).


Same procedures apply for visa applications to Greenland and Faroe Islands.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

You must register your visa application online at https://applyvisa.um.dk/. Therein, you must fill out the online application, pay the embassy visa fee via credit card and print the cover letter to be submitted along with the rest of the requirements for your visa application.

WHERE TO FILE YOUR APPLICATION

Visa applications must be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Center (VFS), Mondays to Fridays, from 7.00-08.00 for walk-in applicants (only 10 slots per day  on a first come, first served basis) and 08.00-14.00 for scheduled appointments, which is highly encouraged.

HANDING IN YOUR APPLICATION

Submit your visa application with required and supporting documents during your visit at VFS. Then you will have your biometrics captured and finally settle the VFS service fee(s) in cash. 

 

Do not forget to bring the printed cover letter when submitting your application otherwise, your application will be deemed inadmissible.

PROCESSING TIME

A visa application normally takes up to 15 days. However in some cases, the Embassy may ask for additional documentation and further verifications that may extend the processing time to 30-60 days. You may apply 3 months prior your intended departure date at the earliest.


When assessing your application, the embassy may contact you if deemed necessary to request further information or documentation, which may assist in the overall examination of your application.


Expect a delay in processing time if you submit an application with lacking documents.



RESULT

It is the applicant’s responsibility to track his/her passport. The embassy will neither disclose the decision via phone nor email due to its confidentiality. Please coordinate with VFS regarding the handling of passports.
